Peter Massumi spoke with PE Hub about how potential tariffs could affect private equity dealmaking in the consumer sector. In the article, “Consumer dealmakers wait to see how tariffs will play out under new administration,” Peter notes that “because there’s murkiness and uncertainty and unpredictability, I would say investors who are focused on the consumer space are in a wait-and-see mode to see how this actually plays out.”

He adds that buyers will have more thorough due diligence they’ll have to do on companies that have international sourcing, which ultimately means “you might see slower, longer processes for companies that might have issues.”
