Experience

Tony has extensive experience advising private equity firms and their portfolio companies, along with other public and private companies, on a broad range of complex transactions, including platform and add-on acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, carve-outs, strategic mergers, structured growth investments, dispositions, special situations transactions and joint ventures. He also counsels clients on various general corporate and governance matters.

At the foundation of Tony’s practice is a commitment to dealmaking through a focus on the highest standards of excellence, aligning incentives between the firm and its clients and endeavoring to provide elegant and commercial solutions to the most nuanced challenges. While industry agnostic, Tony has led numerous transactions across all industry verticals, including in the healthcare, industrial, aerospace and defense, energy, consumer products, food and beverage, entertainment/digital media and technology sectors.

Among other accolades, Tony has been recognized by The Legal 500 as a Recommended Lawyer for Private Equity Buyouts: Middle-Market (Up to $500M) and for M&A: Middle-Market (Sub-$500M), by M&A Advisor as an Emerging Leader, by the Los Angeles Times as both a Legal Visionary and a Banking and Finance Visionary, by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the Most Influential Private Equity Advisors in Los Angeles and as a Leader of Influence as a Private Equity Advisor, as well as by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in Southern California.

Prior to founding Massumi + Consoli, Tony practiced at Kirkland & Ellis. Separately, he was previously a Lecturer in Law at UCLA School of Law for over four years, where he taught M&A Due Diligence, a course he authored and initially taught for several years as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, in addition to being a guest speaker on M&A-related topics at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and Columbia Law School. Tony is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

Tony received the Regents Scholarship from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Dean’s Merit Scholarship from UCLA School of Law.
